Jarange Patil began marching from Jalna on January 20th. He traveled through Pune and arrived in Mumbai. He is protesting for Maratha Reservation and currently he is at APMC in Navi Mumbai . Jarange Patil mentioned that “there is no going back now, we will take reservation and go back. We will come to Azad Maindan tomorrow (Saturday) if we do not get and if we get, we will come and thank people“.
Jarange also said, “Do whatever you want, but give us the ordinance by tonight. We will respect the pious day of 20 January, so we won’t go to Azad Maidan yet. We will stay here tonight if needed but we won’t leave after coming this close to Mumbai. I respect the government and the administration. All I want is the ordinance. If it does not come tonight, we will go to Azad Maidan tomorrow”.
Friday night Maharashtra government accepted all demands mentioned by Jarange Patil. Meeting was held by chief minister Eknath Shinde with official team at Varsha to finalize and take the decision on same. After receiving approval, a government delegation went to Vashi, where the activist is currently campaigning. They brought a copy of the draft with them.
Maratha Reservation – What all main demands by Jarange Patil ?
Jarange patil proposed few demands in front of Maharashtra Government to approve for Maratha Samaj. Below mentioned are the main demands:
- An ordinance to issue Kunbi certificates to all blood relatives of 57 lakh Marathas with Kunbi cast certificate for all of them.
- Free KG(Kindergarten) to PG(Post Graduate) education for Maratha boys and girls.
- Allowing the (retired justice) Sandeep Shinde committee to continue to work for a year.
- No recruitment on Government Job without Maratha quota.
- Withdrawal of all the Criminal cases registered against them during protests held for Maratha reservation in the past.
This could be considered as big win for the Jarange Patil and for his fight. The first protest was organized on August 9, 2016 by Maratha Kranti Morcha and Sakal Maratha Samaj held in Aurangabad now Chhatrapathi Sambhaji Nagar.
