Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of damage from this latest quake.

Hundreds of earthquakes are recorded in California each year, with most being minor. However, dozens measure over 3.0 magnitude.

The strongest quake ever recorded in California measured 7.9 magnitude and struck Fort Tejon on Jan. 9, 1857.

For those who may have experienced shaking during the Ontario earthquake, the USGS encourages filling out their online Felt Report.
