Microsoft Teams services are down and is experiencing a service outage that has blocked access and limited features for some users.
The issue began around 11 a.m. Eastern Time Friday and grew rapidly in scope, according to outage tracker DownDetector. Users have complained of an inability to access the service, delays in sending and receiving messages, and issues displaying graphics. The outage tracker DownDetector’s data shows about Microsoft Teams services are down. It’s unclear how many users are affected by the outages.
Microsoft later responded on X known as Twitter “a networking issue impacting a portion of the Teams service” and that it has moved the affected processes to a backup system.
Microsoft said that backup switchovers for North and South America were ongoing. Outage reports on DownDetector had fallen to almost half their peak level as of 3 p.m. Eastern Time.
Microsoft Teams, widely used by professionals to schedule online meetings, chat, share files, among others, is part of the company’s popular 365 software suite.
